Welcome to Slate Hall

I've finally decided to take the plunge into blogging, this is my first attempt so please be kind!

Slate Hall Riding Centre has just about recovered from the Easter rush and is revving up for the summer season.

We've been around for 35 years and were originally located at the old farmhouse in North Sunderland village. The riding school moved lock, stock and barrel to its new premises behind the church in 2001 so we could offer better facilities away from the busy Main Street.

We now have two purpose-built stable blocks, an all weather arena for lessons and a number of cross country jumps.

Of course, the best thing about our location is that we're less than a mile from the beach. Riding on the beach is apparently among one of the top 50 things people want to do before they die. But of course, you have to be a pretty proficient rider before we let you loose!

Over the next few weeks, you'll be hearing from some of our liveries about life at Slate Hall and we welcome your comments.

  3. I don't own a horse but I regularly help out at Slate Hall on weekends and some week nights after school. When I help out I get to catch the horses/ponies, groom, tack up, lead the horses/ponies and of course the best bit, getting to ride all the horses/ponies.

All the horses are very safe and they are so friendly, some of the horses even follow me round the feild looking for some polos!

Riding on the beach really is as fun as it looks!
My favourite places to ride are: the school(either jumping or flat-work), the beach (of course!) and I love cantering through the feilds (and so do the horses!)

If you are in the Seahouses area i would defo recomend coming and checking out Slate Hall Riding Centre!

  4. Hello to everyone at Slate Hall. I have finally figured out how to work this blogspot!!! (I think.) Forgive me if I haven't and this doesn't work.

What a good photo of Adam on Moscow but unfortunately the one up above that is much better...nothing to do with the fact that Paula, Lyndsay and myself are in it of course!!!

  5. Harry and Dex certainly did enjoy their beach ride. Harry was even brave enough to dip his toes in the sea!
